The Indian Relay Races is one of the wildest, most colorful events I have witnessed. It involves expert horsemanship, athleticism, teamwork and has the potential for disaster at any moment. These races keep alive Native American traditions and heritage.

During the last lap of a relay race, the work of the team is over. Muggers and holders become riveted in place as they watch the strength they have used get released on the track encircling them. The outcome of the race depends on the spirit they can manage to send out and the power of the bond between the rider and the bareback horse who has disappeared into the first turn.
