When a boy is given a chance to partner with his dad he will do whatever he can to keep that chance from getting away. When the pain of cold finds its way so deeply inside him that he can no longer hide from it, his sense of failure and shame bring hot tears that run down his cold cheeks. His dad swings off his horse and helps his partner to the ground, holding him closely to protect him from the relentless thief that stabs through the empty horses behind them. The boy has no way of knowing that this moment will last a lifetime, frozen in time, as fresh as the wind in his face.
